Health and Physical Education

At Dalby State High School PE is a core subject from Year 7 (2015) through to Year 10.  Studying PE

  • Has an important role in maintaining physical activity participation;
  • Provides practical learning experiences to support students choices in physical activity routines to enhance their health and wellbeing;
  • Shows students the benefits of being fit and how fitness can be improved;
  • Has a role in contributing to the health, safety and wellbeing of the community.

Year 7-9

All students must study core Physical Education. The program has been designed from the Australian Curriculum, Health and Physical Education.  Units combine personal, social and community health, and movement and physical activity. The units also provide students with the opportunity to participate in physical activity on a weekly basis.

Year 10

As well as core Physical Education, we offer two electives in year 10 – Extension (Senior Preparation) Physical Education and Certificate 1 in Sport and Recreation.  These subjects are designed for students who wish to continue to study a physical education based curriculum in year 11 and 12.  Students are introduced to topics and physical activities that develop the basis of the senior programmes.

Senior Subjects

We offer face to face instruction for the following senior Physical Education subjects: Physical Education, Health Education and Recreation.  This offers students the opportunity for both the OP and non-OP pathways.  More information can be found on these subjects individually in the fact sheets provided in the Related links.
