Boarding at Dalby State High School Bunya Campus, located approximately one hour west of Toowoomba, provides families the opportunity to attend one of the regions most successful state schools as a residential student. The co-educational residential facility can cater for 116 students who will attend and participate in all that Dalby State High School has to offer. The 360 hectare Campus which is located 5 kilometres north of Dalby’s town centre, is a quiet, picturesque setting where students can achieve their potential, no matter where their interests lie.
The Bunya Campus residential precinct consists of 12 individual 8 and10 bedroom dorms each with 2 shared bathrooms, private lockable bedrooms, air conditioning, shared kitchen and common room. Students enjoy a fully equipped gym, rec room, tennis/basketball courts, 25m heated pool, and expansive grounds.
A team of dedicated support staff exist on site at Bunya Campus – Head of Campus, Deputy Principal, Business Manager, Student Services Manager, Student Support Workers, Recreation Officers, Catering, Cleaning and Grounds staff.
Our Student Services Manager is the first point of contact for residential students and their parents. They organise the recreation calendar, student leave permissions and the day-to-day operations and overall wellbeing of the boarders, as well as supervision of staff. Dalby State High School is a member of the Australian Boarding Schools Association (ABSA) and we use the state of the art student management system REACH. Our dedicated fulltime Student Support Workers, Recreation Officers and Student Supervisors actively supervise students around the clock, providing students with support and monitoring their health and well-being. Boarding students have the benefit of living in a relaxed rural setting which provides a real 'home away from home' atmosphere. Students are provided five meals per day, have private climate controlled bedrooms and full academic support with our onsite residential teacher and regular visits from Nicholson Campus teachers for guided study sessions. Bunya Campus provides boarders with a full laundry service 5 days per week, on site activities and transport to and from extra curricular commitments.
Boarding students and their families have the peace of mind knowing they are living in one of the safest residential facilities for school children in Queensland, if not Australia. Each dorm is equipped with swipe card access, alarmed front and rear doors, CCTV cameras of entry and exit points as well as emergency assist buttons. There are even sensors on the fire hoses! All of this is monitored by State Government Security and, in addition to the Student Supervisors, a security guard is rostered on overnight to monitor and patrol the Residential Campus precinct.
