School Musical
For over 55 years, our school has proudly presented an annual musical that brings students, staff, and the wider community together in a celebration of creativity and collaboration. Except for the '81 flood year and 2020's COVID disruptions, this long‑standing tradition has delivered a high‑quality, Broadway/West End–style production that has become a cherished fixture in the local arts community.
Each year, an enthusiastic team of staff from across all faculties works closely with around 100 dedicated students. Together, they contribute to every aspect of the show—from lead roles and chorus to backstage crew, makeup, lighting, sound, costuming, and orchestra. Their combined passion, teamwork, and commitment create a performance that is as professional as it is memorable.
For many students and staff, the musical becomes a defining experience—one that builds confidence, fosters lasting friendships, and instils deep pride in being part of something larger than themselves.
In just 15 fast‑paced weeks, from auditions to the final curtain call, our goal is to give both performers and audiences the highest‑quality experience possible. Recent productions such as Mamma Mia!, High School Musical 2, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and Legally Blonde continue to uphold this tradition of excellence and community spirit.
Instrumental Music (Co-curricular)
Students from Year 7-12 have the opportunity to participate in the Instrumental Music Program (fees apply).
Students are offered the opportunity to play Woodwind, Brass and Percussion instruments and also have the opportunity to be a part of the school Concert and Stage Bands. Small group lessons are held during class time and band rehearsals outside of school hours. Small ensembles, duets and solo opportunities are also available throughout the year.
The Dalby State High School band program has a long standing reputation as a Program of Excellence, with award winning ensembles and soloists of a very high standard. We welcome musicians of all abilities and are very proud of the culture that has developed over many years of quality music education and performance.
